Kim Chesney
Born with the name Painter, Kim Painter Chesney always had a predisposition toward art. With extensive experience in child-rearing and fundraising for child-focused nonprofits, she's proven that no task is too big for her. One of her proudest moments was serving as a match for a bone marrow harvest, saving a man's life from leukemia.
Kim's creativity is evident in her culinary arts program for underprivileged children and her art donations to charities, all while orchestrating successful fundraising events. Her energy and commitment shine through every endeavor.
As an artist, Kim has explored various mediums, including oil, watercolor, and graphite. Currently, she is developing her own brand of encaustic painting—a technique using hot wax that dates back to before 100 A.D. By combining photographs from her travels with a mix of beeswax and resin, she creates unique, sculpted pieces, employing tools to etch and color with oil pastels.
Since 2008, Kim has shown her work at exhibitions and garnered recognition and awards, with pieces in private collections and features in local publications. Having studied with renowned artists such as Marc Chatov and Jerry Fresia, she has also lived in diverse locations like Tokyo, where she found art a vital means of connection. Kim believes that "Art is a universal language that unites us," a philosophy that inspires her ongoing series of encaustic paintings celebrating common humanity.
