CASALONTANA
Hernán Pacheco, artistically known as CASALONTANA, is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist. In his work, his interest in humanity, language, the idea of change, and all kinds of landscapes is dominant. Currently, he is a PhD Candidate in Madrid. CASALONTANA’s mantra speaks through the visual themes of his work: NEC SPE NEC METU (Without hope, without fear).
"My work is not an escape from reality, but a deep immersion into the fundamental structures of my own sensory experience. 'Lo Inasible' (The Unreachable) explores how abstraction emerges naturally from our perception when we delve into the deepest layers of consciousness.
I work within the concept of Heterotopias—non-places that serve as thresholds between one painting and another. In the silence of the studio, I recover sensations: the scent of the canvas, the fragility of the pigments, and the vulnerability of the paint itself. For me, abstract painting is an ontological method: it makes the invisible visible and gives a tangible voice to the unspeakable.
To paint abstractly is to look inward with nothing but matter and color—navigating without a map, guided only by a 'stab in the stomach' that signals when a work is complete. It is the paradoxical attempt to capture the uncapturable." -CASALONTANA
